This month’s question for Priscila comes from a question that Megan asked us on Facebook:
“I started laser hair removal and may have spaced my treatments too far apart—do I have to start over?”
Priscila says: The answer depends on how long it’s been since your last treatment and your hair growth cycle, on average a hair cycle is 5-6 weeks apart, meaning that when you have a laser removal treatment you want to plan it during hair growth since you’ll want to “kill off” each new hair cycle by weakening the follicle.
It also depends on your skin and hair type. Dark hair has the best results with laser treatment although recent advancements are helping the blondes and redheads get rid of hair as well.
You probably DO NOT need extra treatments or have to “start over” since the hair follicles were permanently damaged with any previous treatment, they can’t be “undone” although some factors like which part of the body (bikini, legs for example) and hormone balance can affect hair growth. Even though the process can take a few months you’ll see a huge improvement after only a couple of sessions.
